Description
"Just Blend In" White-plumed Honeyeaters (Ptilotula penicillata) are small to medium sized passerine birds, that are endemic to Australia.
They can be commonly found close to water sources such as wetlands, swamps, creeks, dams, in and around woodlands and river flats, also parks and gardens. Often seen in suburban backyards that have good vegetation cover.
This stunning little native bird was photographed in Kings Canyon, NT.
I decided the title "Just Blend In" was rather appropriate given how well he or she blended in to the beautiful yellow flowering Eucalyptus tree backdrop. I was unable to distinguish whether it was male or female, because the plumage of the White-plumed Honeyeater doesn't differ between sexes, unlike so many other birds.
